Scripture Reading:                    Rom 12:11

Memory verse for the week:   Psalm 103: 1-2

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” Rom 12:11.

All through my academic year and up till today, I have never seen a verse of the scripture that brings together one’s academics, spiritual walk with God and spiritual work for God. I strongly recommend that this scripture should be compulsorily memorized.

Aki has a very good relationship with God, fervent in his spirit. He goes to church service regularly; and he is also one of the leaders in his school’s fellowship. But, Aki is always having poor grades in his academics.

Pawpaw, Aki’s roommate, has little regard for God. He neither goes to Church, talkless of being a Church worker. His books are more precious than gold to him. Nevertheless, his good grades speak for themselves.

Teenagers, please listen to me very carefully this day! I wouldn’t want you to be like Aki nor would I want you to be Pawpaw. You must be balanced! The pendulum of your life (as in Simple Pendulum) must not swing either to its two far extremes.

A Christian that doesn’t produce good fruits in character & in academics leaves little to be desired of him. Our God is an excellent God. Dan 5:12. Jesus is the wisdom of God. 1 Cor. 1:24. Daniel and his contemporaries were ten times better than their equals. Dan 1:20.

On the other hand, “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36. That’s double tragedy!

All things are yours in Christ Jesus. Dr D.K Olukoya, Pastor E.A Adeboye, Pastor W.F Kumuyi, and Bro Gbile Akanni are all icons in the Christian faith. Can I surprise you? They all finished as first class students in their various fields at the university. Isn’t that worthy of emulation? You are the next on line…Amen

ACTION WORD:       BE HEAVENLY CONSCIOUS AND EARTHLY USEFUL!

PRAYER POINT:

  1. I receive the wisdom of God to strike a balance in all that I do in Jesus name.
  2. Anointing of the top, fall upon every area of my in life in Jesus name.

Before he became a Christian he sat down for his GCSE twice and failed woefully. The first time he had 7F's and the second time he had 9F's. Infact, he couldn't speak or construct a good sentence in English Language. He had concluded that academics was not meant for him...
