DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post September

5th September, 2016.

Scripture Reading: 1Samuel 18:5-9

Memory verse for the week:   Eph 5:16

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. “(KJV)

“Jealousy is cruel as the grave; the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame.”        Songs of Solomon 8:6b

The word “Jealousy” is an abstract noun from the root word Jealous. It is synonymous to the word ‘envy’. To be jealous means to be envious of someone else’s possessions, achievement or advantage. It’s an evil mask which covers the face of a teenager in that state thereby repels his/her angels of blessing and helpers of destiny like in the case of Saul and David. Jealousy is one of the manifestations of the works of the flesh (Gal 5:26). It is as cruel as the grave (death). It was jealousy that propelled Joseph’s  brothers’ action against him (Genesis 37).  The first physical death in the Bible was caused by jealousy. The spirit of Jealousy proudly supported by her twin brother called ‘anger’, caused Cain to kill Abel (Gen.4:3-8).

A teen that is jealous of another’s intelligence or ability would never be able to learn from such. All that such a teen think is Sister ‘A’ thinks she is a good singer and brother ‘B’ thinks he is good in calculation…….that’s why they are proud. Beloved, it is the voice of jealousy speaking, shun that voice. As a Christian teenager why not celebrate the grace of God upon their life? Know that whatever you admire you will acquire! You will also receive that blessing you appreciate. Some teenagers because of that envious feeling towards their friend who is from a rich home, even when their friend decides to sow into their life by giving them clothes , shoes and other items, they would strongly decline and say that they are not beggars though, they are in need of those gifts.

This evil seed has its consequences among which are: It hinders blessings, takes away joy, plants hatred which brings about evil thoughts and finally leads such a teen to hell fire. The latter part of Gal 5:21 says, “whosoever posses such an attitude will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Beloved do not allow jealousy to hinder your blessings on earth and take you away from the kingdom of God. Shalom!

ACTION WORD: DON’T  BE JEALOUS.

PRAYER POINT:

  1. Evil seed of jealousy in my life, be roasted by fire, in the name of Jesus.
  2. I terminate all the works of the flesh in my life according to Gal 5:19-21, in the name of Jesus.
