Bible reading: Gen. 42: 53-57.

Memory Verse:And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands”Genesis41:57.

Economic recession is a period of general economic decline and is typically accompanied by a drop in the stock market, an increase in unemployment, hike in the prices of goods and a decline in the housing market.

One sure way a nation gets into economic recession is when they disobey the law of God (Deut. 28:17-18, 43-44). However, as Christians, we can live above it. It was recession that made Egypt the world power thousands of years ago when Joseph was the Prime Minister during one of the severe famines ever recorded. Egypt had stored up grains and other food items that they could feed on for many years through a revelation from God that was interpreted by Joseph.

Economic recession also made countries like the United States of America (USA) the world leader during the World War I and II. When other nations were having crisis, USA produced food, machinery, electronics, etc., for other war and recession ravaged economies; making them the world trading currency.

Economic recession is synonymous to Biblical famine. There was economic recession in the days of Abraham which forced him to “go down to Egypt”. The economic recession in the days of Isaac is worthy of note. Just about when he was to go to Egypt, God told him to stay where he was. He sowed in the famine and reaped an hundred fold that same year and the Philistines envied him (Gen.26:13-14).

Beloved, what is happening to us or our country today calls for us to stay connected to God & His anointed so we can discern & create opportunity for fortune in the midst of lack by His revelation.

Quote: See into the spirit & think outside the box.

Prophetic Word: May the eyes of your understanding be opened to see riches in hardship.

Prayer point:

1. As Isaac prospered in the season of famine, I shall prosper even in this so called recession season, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, open my eyes of understanding. Give me a paradigm shift in my thinking to know what to do during famine.
