LESSONS FROM THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES OF JESUS (1)

Bible reading: Matthew 20: 25-28.

Memory Verse:  And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave. Matthew 20:27(NKJV)

For every crew, there’s a Captain. For every nation, there must be a leader. At any point or place in life, there must be one or a group of people that pilot and guide her affairs.  Jesus Christ is the greatest leader of all times. He’s the perfect example of servant leadership.

Here are leadership qualities as exemplified by Jesus:

1)           Jesus was humble (Mark 1:11, Philippians 2:5-8)

As Jesus began his ministry he made it clear that there was a great power at work. When he placed himself under the care of John the Baptist to be baptized by him, He was teaching submission to the Will of His Father. This shouldn’t be mistaken as a weakness. Great leaders are humble enough to accept that they don’t know it all. Have you fully submitted to your parents/guardian, your leader in Church, school and in your neighborhood?

2)           Jesus was obedient to the Holy Spirit. (Mark 1:12-13, Phil. 2:8)

As instructed by the Holy Spirit, Jesus went into a 40 days dry fast, was tempted by the devil, & went from one place to the other doing good and eventually. He was obedient to the shameful death of the cross.

3)           Jesus cast a vision with clarity and simplicity (Mark 1:15)

One of the most powerful components of Jesus’ ministry was his ability to be simple, clear and direct. This was shown in his preaching and teaching. His ability to tell a truth through a simple parable was the foundation of all he did.

Key Point:        The hallmark of leadership is obedience to Holy Spirit and service to mankind.

Prayer Point:

  1. Give me a heart like Jesus, O Lord, in the name of Jesus.
  2. Every spirit of pride in me, die, in the name of Jesus.
