Bible reading: James 2:1-8

Memory verse: If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself,” you do well. James 2:8 (NKJV)

“…And I never did,” he said, abruptly ending our conversation. There must have been other factors to have hardened him, but this experience formed a significant part of the bitterness in his heart.

I’m sure that the Sunday School teacher meant well, but did she really understand the love of Christ? Has she studied and accepted the teachings found in the second chapter of James?

What if she had put her arms around the dirty, ragged little boy and said, “Son, I am so glad you are here, and I hope you will come again to hear more about Jesus.”

I reflected on the awesome responsibility teachers, pastors and parents have to welcome the little ones in His name. How far reaching their influence can be!

Yes, I saw him in the church house for the first time on Wednesday. As I looked at that immaculately dressed old gentleman lying in his casket, I thought of the little boy of many years ago. I could almost hear him say, “No, ma’am, I won’t ever.”  And I wept.

I believe God is speaking to many a Church worker today. We sometimes pull down God’s kingdom we’re trying to build. Kingdom service must be done borne out of genuine love.

I pray that you will ever be open to everyone you meet in life and may you see beyond their appearance and behaviour. May you see into the eternal possibilities within everyone. Love is the greatest commandment.

Quote: A man who is tactful is able to say an unpleasant thing in a pleasant way.

Prophetic Word: Receive a mouth of wisdom in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

  1.  I receive wisdom for effective Christian service, in Jesus name!
  2. Holy Spirit, give me wisdom to do your work the way you want it done.
  3.  Spirit of love, flood my heart in Jesus name!
