CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROAD TO THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ROAD TO THE OLD RUGGED CROSS

DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post March

Thursday, 16th March, 2017.

Bible reading: Philippians 2:6-8.

Memory verse: Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him give up all, and take up his cross, and come after me. Matthew 16:24(BBE)

Do you know the summary of the entire ministry of Jesus was His death on the Cross? That was the only time He wanted “the cup” pass over Him (Matthew 26:29).

Today, we shall be looking at some of the things you must do if you have discovered the ultimate plan of God for your life and you have decided to fulfil it. We shall take Jesus as our perfect example. As He is, so we are in this world (1 John 4:17b).

1) Die to your reputation: “But made himself of no reputation…”(Phil. 2:7). A man with no reputation is not ashamed to evangelize in the public bus, in the classroom or in his neighbourhood. Some are afraid to identify publicly with Christ or to carry their Bibles publicly (Rom. 1:16).

2) You must have a servant heart: “…and took upon himself the form of a servant ” (Phil 2:7). On the pathway to the fulfilment of your destiny, you must be ready to serve God and fellow men. In fact, some measure of grace may not rub off on you if you don’t develop a heart of service especially for God’s anointed servant. Jesus served Joseph in his carpenter’s shop. He poured water on the feet of his disciples. Erase this boss mentality from your heart. We have been called to serve. We are servant Leaders. “Do as I do” and not “Do as I say “.

3) Humility: God resist the proud but gives more grace to the humble (James 4:6).

4) Endure shame: You must be ready to endure shame (Isaiah 61:7).

5) Endure challenges: You must be ready to face difficulties, challenges, criticisms, persecution and spiritual attacks (1 Peter 5:10, 2 Cor.16:9, Eph 6:12).

Nevertheless, in all these things, surely God’s grace is sufficient! Keep your focus on His saving grace and glory (Phil. 2:9-10). He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Quote: There is a great price to be paid on the road to the old rugged cross.

Prophetic Prayers: I command the root of all evil powers warring against your faith to wither and catch fire, in Jesus name.

Prayer point:

1) Thou power of God, strengthen me to fulfill my purpose in life, in Jesus name. 2) I’ll run and finish my journey well, in Jesus name.

THREE THINGS YOU MUST CONQUER

Life is not just about what you achieve, it’s about what you master. Before God can trust you with influence, impact, or increase, He watches how well you can govern yourself. It was Apostle Arome Osayi who said: "The first thing that a young adult must be exposed to is mastery over appetite...
