Bible reading: 1 Corinthians 12:12-27; 1 Samuel 20:27-33.

Memory Verse: For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. James 3:16(NIV)

Envy is the resentful or unhappy feeling of wanting somebody else’s success, good fortune, qualities, or possessions. Like Cain, envy can turn a man into a murderer.

The blindness of envy made Saul seek the life of David until he lost his throne. It made Lucifer attempt usurping God’s throne and it also moved Judas Iscariot to betray Jesus Christ. It promotes comparison, unhealthy competition and soon, you lose your peace completely. The blindness of envy despises and blinds you to what you have and instead, makes you conclude that another is better than you. As a result, you won’t see what you have until you are robbed off it.

To succeed in life, you must avoid being envious. Don’t ever get into competition; instead we are to “complete each other” because we are all different. Run the race set before you. Compete with your best and not another. A student may grasp what the teacher teaches instantly and another grasps only after much study. You wouldn’t need to be envious if you’re the other person. The Author of wisdom fashioned it that way. The most important thing is that you both apply the knowledge acquired.

Never envy what another possess, whether their resources or way of life. I am who God created me to be and you are who God created you to be. We are different, just as an orange is not better than a mango. You need to sharpen what God has given you and complement others around you. As soon as you receive that truth in your spirit, you’ll overcome this dangerous blindness.

Quote: Compete with your best and not another!

Prophetic Word:  May the Holy Ghost reveal “you to you”, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus: Lord, I thank You because you have blessed me with spiritual blessings in the heavenly places. I receive the heart that appreciates Your donations in my life. I pledge to be a completer and not a competitor in Jesus’ name. Amen.
