Bible Reading: 2 Tim. 4:9-16

Memory Verse: For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica.Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.  2 Timothy 4:10 (ESV)

Backsliding means falling away. It describes a process by which a Christian reverts to pre-conversion habits or lapses. A backslider is a person who turns from God to pursue his / her own fleshly desires.

One key thing is sure about a backslider: the things of God no longer interest him /her. Backsliding is a thief of our Christian faith and many atimes, kicks off so subtily.

Backsliding may manifest in several ways, e.g. dropping out of church, losing fervour for the things of God, reducing time spent in your personal walk with the Lord in the area of fasting, prayer, worship,  and meditation. A backslider falls back into old habits e.g. addiction to electronic gadgets, internet crime, pornography, masturbation and all other sexual sins.  A backslider’s conscience no longer pricks him when he falls into sin.

You must make up your mind not to nail Christ to the cross again. The story of your backsliding shall not be heard, in Jesus name.

Quote:  A backslider sees things from his/her perspective not judging with the Word of God.

Prophetic Word: Let every root of backsliding springing up from your heart, dry up, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

  1. Foundational powers drawing me back from the Lord, die, in Jesus name.
  2. I curse every root of the spirit of backsliding in my life, in Jesus name.
  3. Strongman of my father’s house, you shall not draw me back from the Lord, in Jesus name.
  4. Unlike Lot’s wife, I shall not look back, in Jesus name.
  5. Every power drawing me away from the work of God, die by fire, in Jesus name.
