Bible Reading: Genesis 19:30-38, Proverbs 31:6.

Memory Verse: Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1

There are many people who argue if taking alcohol is a sin or not. This is amazing! When you look at the fruit produced, you can determine if a tree is good or not. In our Bible reading, the children of Lot wouldn’t have been able to sleep with their father if Lot hadn’t been drunk. The children born “from what alcohol has joined together” became the Moabites and the Ammonites who were sworn-enemies of the children of Israel.

Alcohol is a mocker that leads to uncontrollable behaviour. Many wouldn’t have said things that put them in trouble if not for the effect of alcohol. There are many who have lost precious things under the influence of alcohol. Many have lost their phones & hostel keys under the influence of alcohol.  With a ‘little shot’ many have been raped, maimed, poisoned and sometimes killed by this agent of death. There are people who have experienced fatal accidents under Mr. Alcohol. Some have been duped when under her influence. Unfortunately, the devil is always waiting for such times when people are out of their senses to strike them; causing them to suffer sometimes irretrievable loss to their destiny.

Those who cannot stay away from alcohol will always be victims of wrong decisions. They will never be able to judge well. Men of integrity who value the life God has given to them will desist from such acts. Why should you pollute your body, the temple of the Lord Jesus?

Alcohol is an instrument of unrighteousness and you should not yield to it. If you truly love God, you will desist from such. God wants you to abstain from the old wine of sin and embrace the new wine of life in the Holy Ghost. There is a wine from the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18) with no concentrate or herbs added. It is brewed in the laboratory of Heaven. This new wine produces joy and peace, while the old wine of flesh produces death and shame. You will not be a victim of mockery in Jesus’ name.

I hear the Holy Spirit whisper into my spirit that there’s a user of this devotional who is saying to himself, “I will drink alcohol responsibly”. If you escape the wrath of alcohol on earth, you won’t escape the wrath of the devil, her master in eternity. Take heed unto thyself…

Quote: It is a sin to pollute God’s temple. Flee alcohol.

Prophetic Word: Jesus the Yoke breaker shall break every evil hold of alcohol, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

  1. I break the backbone of evil addiction in my life, in Jesus name.
  2. Self-destructive spirit in my foundation, summersault and die, in Jesus name.
  3. Ancestral curse hunting my destiny, die by fire, in Jesus name.
  4. I break every evil hold of alcohol upon my life, in Jesus name.
  5. Holy Spirit, replace my appetite for alcohol & other youthful sins for righteousness and kingdom service, in Jesus name.
