ANCIENT CHURCH vs. MODERN CHURCH

ANCIENT CHURCH vs. MODERN CHURCH

DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post January

Wednesday, 10th January, 2018.

Bible Reading: 1 Peter 4:17-18

Memory Verse:  ‘Thus says the LORD: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Jeremiah 8:18(NKJV)

The differences between the Old time Church and Modern day Church include:

  1. In the old, when the choir ministers, the congregation burst into tears   because they brought down the manifest glory of God, but in the modern, they respond with a “clap offering”.
  2. In the old, during the Word ministration, the congregation cry in conviction of their sins but today, the congregation blow whistle, and hail the Pastor shouting “ride on pastor”.
  3. The Word of God is the foundation of the old, but anointing oil, handkerchief, sticker, holy water, and the G. O’s calendar are the foundation of the modern day faith.
  4. The old Church carried their Bible in the hands because they were not ashamed of Jesus but in the modern church their Bible is in their phones. They are shy to identify publicly with Christ (Luke 9:26).
  5. Quality time is dedicated to prayers in the ancient church giving birth to powerful Christians unlike many prayerless Christians of our days.
  6. The ancients go to church well dressed in godly reference unlike skimpy and seducing clothes worn in the modern day Church.
  7. In the old, sinners are convicted of their sins but today, sinners go home remaining the same.
  8. The ancients answer altar calls with tears rolling down their eyes while the modern church does the same chewing gum.
  9. Many are seen “twitting, facebooking and whatsapping” during prayers and Word ministration in the modern day Church.

   10. Gospel entertainment has replaced gospel music. No difference in the

songs churned out in disco parties and in the church of today.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:  Job 24 – 28

Quote: The standard of God remains the same yesterday, today and forevermore.

Prophetic Decree: Our generation shall be delivered from double standards in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

  1. Thank you for your rod of correction today in Jesus name.
  2. Father please forgive me of subtle compromise and lack of faith in Jesus.
  3. I reject the spirit of error and mistake in Jesus name.
  4. I reject the spirit of compromise of my Christian faith.
  5. I receive a fresh baptism of the fear of the Lord in Jesus name.
