Bible Reading: Acts 20: 32-35
Memory Verse: A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great. Proverbs 18:16(NIV)
In a recent convocation of one of the private owned Universities in Nigeria, the Chancellor repeatedly said, “Think Contribution”. It is often said, “Don’t think of what America will give you, think of what you will give America. The Bible further buttresses this long age truth about giving, “It is more blessed to give than to have” (Acts 20:35b). Thank God for seeing this day. Today is celebrated all over the world as a day to exchange gift and pleasantries.
I will want you to look behind. I wouldn’t want you to be short sighted or myopic in you view. Think of three (3) people who have laboured over your life and make up your mind to give something valuable (not necessarily expensive) in appreciation. Look at your Church and give to that person who has been labouring hard over your life as a new born babe that you may grow into Christ fullness. Look at your family and give to that person who has always been there to solving your emotional problems, helping out in house chores or paying your school fees. Look into your neighbourhood and give back to that neighbour who always bring in your clothes when you are not around or the one who voluntarily sweeps the compound or the one who always ask after your upkeep. Think contribution! If you don’t develop an attitude of giving now that you are young, you may never be truly wealthy.
Congratulations. Keep boxing without throwing punches!! Happy Boxing day. Shalom
