Bible Reading: Mark 4: 35-41
Memory Verse: Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39 (NKJV)
I hear storm is over. There comes a time in life when all you will ever need is a divine intervention. The presence of Jesus in the boat of your life doesn’t mean the boisterous wind of life wouldn’t blow as we saw in our text. Peter and the other disciples could represent typical examples of believers who have been saved by the blood of the lamb but are relying on their own efforts to calm the problems of life. Haven’t you heard that by strength shall no man prevail (1 Samuel 2:9b).
The strength of God hardly comes upon the strength of man. Jesus sometimes gives us an opportunity to exert our strength and deploy all the principles in our head before He shows up. Not until you come to the end of yourself, Jesus won’t show up in the scene. The disciples “fixing skills” failed them. Perhaps they initially thought Jesus shouldn’t be brought to trivial issues like that. How wrong they were. Jesus is very much interested in the very minutest details of our lives should we let Him in.
Finally, they came to the end of themselves. “So the angel explained that it was the following message of the LORD to Zerubbabel: I am the LORD All-Powerful. So don’t depend on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.” Zechariah 4:6 (CEV). They eventually cried to the Jesus who had left them to face the consequences of their negligence. One word from Master Jesus calmed the stormy sea, “Peace be still”. What trouble and heartache we bring upon ourselves when we fail to bring everything to God in prayers. I don’t know what storm you’re facing in your family, in your place of work, in your career, academics or relationship. I bring you good news. Jesus is standing by. But like a gentleman, He will not barge into your affairs unless you sense His need.
Do you need help? Cry to Jesus today. But, first: Surrender your life to Him today not only as your Saviour, but more importantly, as your Lord. A Lord calls the shot. You don’t act until your Lord instructs. I see a new day, a new dawn, a new chapter and a new future open up unto you, in Jesus name. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NKJV).
Quote: Jesus or Jonah in your boat, there will always be storms. I choose Jesus, anyway.
Prophetic Decree: I command peace to every storm in your life and family, in Jesus name.
