Bible Reading: Colossians 2:18

Memory VerseBut I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. 2 Corinthians 11:3 (ESV)

Paulina hooked up with Bimpe, one of her old friends on Facebook and decided to chat her up. Her photos already explained much about her. “Bimpe and her husband are doing well on the average, but not compared to them”, she thought to herself. Come to dressing, Paulina wears designers. She lives in an environment where she pays 1.2 million per year, her curtains are exotic, cushions are purely made with Italian fabrics, her tiles are of unique design, she owns four latest cars though she’s heavily indebted to many banks in order to finance her luxurious lifestyle.

Paulina invited Bimpe and her husband over to her house in order to showcase her palace. They came in a rather simple car “not befitting Paulina’s status.” They had a nice time together and promised to exchange visit once again. Paulina persuaded her husband to come along with her to repay the visit. When they got to Bimpe’s home, it was just exactly what she saw in her photos on Facebook. Disappointment was written over her husband’s face. No designers, though it was beautiful and neat, but not expensive to boost self esteem.

During their discussion on the table, Paulina’s husband suggested they apply for a loan to support their business but the couple were so reluctant. Suddenly, Paulina saw something that shocked her. She saw an award over the shelf indicating that Bimpe’s husband owned 47% share of Obiz Company, the same company her husband works for. She was humbled. There they were, chatting with the man who have been paying her husband’s salary. To make matters worse, the house they rented was also owned by Bimpe’s husband.

Lessons

1. It is more honourable to be modest, simple and humble.

2. Never size a man up based on his appearance. Appearance could be very deceptive.

3. There are many burdens and heartache we put on ourselves that are unnecessary. Why live a life you are not qualified for? As much as possible, live a debt free life.

Quote: The life of a man does not consist in the abundance of things he possess.

Prophetic Decree: Receive the spirit of humility, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Jesus for humbling yourself to save me.

2. I rebuke the spirit of pride lurked up in my heart, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to live a simple life, in Jesus name.

4. Holy Spirit, help me to remember always that I am blessed to be a blessing, and not for personal self-aggrandizement, in Jesus name.

5. I receive wisdom to come out of the pit of debt, in Jesus name.
