Bible Reading: Ecclesiastes 4: 9-11, Matthew 19: 4-6

Memory VerseStop forming inappropriate relationships with unbelievers. Can right and wrong be partners? Can light have anything in common with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14 (GWT)

To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Hear wisdom:

1. The period of being single is not the time for random sampling, flirting, partying, alcohol, or drugs. It is a time of consecration in order to understand what is in the heart of the Father for your life.

2. As you lay your bed, so shall you lie on it. If you become a thorn in the flesh for your brother’s wife or sister’s husband when single, be sure of nemesis when you also get married.

3. A perfect does not exist. You are also not perfect after all. What really matters is for your spouse to be a genuine child of God, and must be the will of God for your life. Then, make up your mind to WORK YOUR MARRIAGE OUT via understanding. Many who are married love each other but haven’t taken time to understand and respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

4. If you enter into marriage with the mindset of “for better, for worse – for worse, for go”, you are already defeated. Statistics shows that about 30% of re-marriages end up in another divorce. Enter your marriage fully persuaded: THERE IS NO TURNING BACK TILL DEATH DO US PART.

5. The best type of marriage is founded on the virtue of godliness, patience, perseverance and forgiveness.

6. Don’t enter into marriage for the wrong reasons. Beyond companionship and mutual sexual satisfaction which is legitimate, there is still an agenda in the heart of God for every union.

7. It is better to remain single than to marry the wrong partner. The second closest place to hell fire is a bad marriage.

8. Your partner could determine if you will make heaven or not.

9. If you build a foundation of masturbation and pornography for yourself during your single period, sexual intercourse even in marriage may not cure it. Flee from illicit sex. Keep yourself pure.

10. As much as possible, be productively engaged before marriage. Finance is one of the pillars of marriage.

11. If you don’t have a personal relationship with God when you’re single, cultivating such when married could be quite difficult. Let Jesus be the number lover of your soul now and always (Mat. 6:33).

12. Be careful of who you call your friend. Be careful of who mentors you. Be careful of your association. Be careful of who you watch or listen to. They will surely shape your mindset about life and even marriage.

13. What you won’t be able to tolerate in marriage, you better don’t tolerate in courtship. Watch out for danger signs. A broken courtship is better than a broken marriage. However, put your Pastor in the knowing.

14. Don’t marry out of pity.

15. Don’t marry based on what you see. Connect to the revealer of deep secrets.

QuoteRelationships should draw you closer to Christ, not closer to sin. Don’t compromise to keep anyone, God is more important.

Prophetic Decree: You won’t marry to later regret, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus
