Bible Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Memory VerseBut of that [exact] day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son [in His humanity], but the Father alone. Mark 13:32 (AMP)

The Pastor announced during the midweek service that the Governor of the State would be coming to worship in the church next Sunday and everyone shouted for joy. A lot of people came around to tidy up the Church on Saturday. A new center rug for the altar was donated by a family and everywhere was looking great. Many who don’t come early and those who do not come to Church regularly were the first to be seated on the said day. The service started and many were not closing their eyes during prayers to see how the Governor’s entourage will enter with style.

From the opening prayers to the time of the message one could see how people were expectant but the Pastor wasn’t moved, he continued with the service. Towards the end of the sermon he asked them that if the Governor should enter now, how many of them will have the opportunity to shake hands with him or how many people can he help? There was great silence in the auditorium. The Pastor further said, “You believed me when I told you about the Governor’s coming and everyone adjusted immediately, but you never did anything about the second coming of Jesus Christ which I have been preaching to you for long.

How sweet will it be if everyone of us is preparing to meet our saviour this way and even render service to God like this. Eternal life cannot be compared with just a temporary visit of any man who will be removed from office in few years time. God is the most excellent King and anyone without a deep and undiluted relationship with Him cannot reign with Him in His kingdom.” How prepared are you too? Remember Jesus is coming for a Church without spot or wrinkle. Today is not too late to amend your ways, but tomorrow can be dangerous. Prepare your way for the soon coming king daily.
