Bible Reading: Colossians 3:23-24, Proverbs 20:4

Memory Verse:  The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty. Proverbs 21:5 (ESV)

For Europe/America migration enthusiasts, moving abroad is the best thing that can happen to one, but a US-based Nigerian took a decision you would consider rather out of place – he left America for Nigeria. The man who was said to have started the business with just 2000 naira ($4) left behind his cars and luxury lifestyle abroad. He started what is now known as Wilson’s Lemonade in Covenant University in year 2010 and has transformed it into a drink company. His name is Seyi Abolaji.

Seyi left America where he had acquired his education and other material possessions such as cars and house to sell lemonade in Nigeria with KSh 500. The inspiration behind his move was from one of his course mentors who frowned at the trend of people from ‘universities without names’ going on to set up big enterprises while graduates from prestigious institutions lead normal lives after school. Seyi said while his mum marvelled at his decision to move back to Nigeria, his dad thought he had gone bananas.

With support from his elder brother who is a pharmacist, the history and philosophy graduate started his business which today has become a drink company. He employs 60-70 persons directly and 300-400 persons indirectly. He turned his bedroom into a head office and shared how he and a small number of persons picked plastic bottles wastes they used for the business now called Wilson’s Lemonade. They wouldn’t be discouraged by mockery.

Seyi advised upcoming entrepreneurs that entrepreneurship is not a fast way to make wealth but a pathway to achieving it with dedicated efforts. He said wealth is achievable for one who strives to make an impact or add value. Dear brethren, the 21st century is fast changing. Multimillionaires are fast rising in every facet of life from seemingly weird businesses. Friends, apart from your school certificate, what can you do to make a living for yourself? Look inwards. Refuse to die small. Defile all odds. All things are possible through Christ.

Quote:  Your career path may look uncommon and strange, but, provided God is leading you, He will see you through until He makes you a monumental success.

Prophetic Decree:  Your success will shock your enemies and daze your friends, in Jesus name.
