Bible Reading: Leviticus 6: 12-13, Job 7: 17-18
Memory Verse: Remember, the fire must be kept burning on the altar at all times. It must never go out. Leviticus 6:13 (NLT)
Arrival mentality is when someone is over-satisfied with his current level of achievement or over-relying on one’s past effort, success and results while overlooking the need for more. It is a state of premature contentment. It is state of complacency. For instance, if someone has prayed and fasted in the past and concluded or assumed that such prayer or fasting was enough to sustain them in the future, that is an arrival mentality. It is an error. That kind of mentality is a destroyer of spirituality.
Yesterday’s prayer may not handle today’s challenges. Matthew 6:34b (NASB) says, “Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Each day has enough load of its own trouble to be tackled. Yesterday’s prayer may not handle today’s challenges just like yesterday’s food cannot handle today’s hunger. Furthermore, God expects daily fellowship with His people. In Genesis 19:27, we see how Abraham got up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the Lord. That means there was a place and a time Abraham met with God and he was consistent about it.
Beloved, it appears God has a daily schedule with man (Job 7:17-18). It is one thing for God to visit, it is another thing for you to be aware of His visit. So, the reason why the prayer of yesterday is not sufficient for today is that there is a schedule for our daily appointment with God, and that schedule must be kept daily. Friends, reject arrival mentality in your daily walk with the Lord. Be consistent in ensuring that the fire on your altar never goes out (Lev. 6:12). Maintain a regular lifestyle of prayers, meditation, Bible study, and fellowship with God.
