Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 4: 1-2
Memory Verse: Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Hebrews 10:22 (NIV)
Man is a spirit having a soul living in a body. Proverbs 20:27 (NIV), “The human spirit is the lamp of the LORD that sheds light on one’s inmost being.” Every man has what is known as conscience. The conscience can be described as that part of a man’s spirit that pricks him, that police him, that checkmates his excesses. The conscience of a man helps him to differentiate between what is right from what is wrong. When we become born again, and get filled with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit begins to regulate and control the affairs of our conscience.
Sad but true, some people’s conscience are now dead, seared with hot iron, unable to differentiate between what is good or evil, and sometimes calling what is evil good. Do you know if you stay long in darkness, you begin to see even in the same darkness? Similarly, some people, including so called Christians have gotten so used to evil such that they see evil as good; their consciences has been seared. The Bible calls them “having a reprobate mind” (Romans 1:28). Consider these:
1. If you can use your friend for money ritual, your conscience is seared.
2. If you can steal God’s money placed before the altar of your Church without your conscience pricking, your conscience is dead.
3. If you can slap your parents. Abomination! Then, you have a reprobate mind.
4. If you can swindle men of their hard earned money, you have a reprobate mind.
5. If you can bath with human blood, your conscience is dead.
6. If you can sleep with your own daughter, your conscience is dead.
7. If you can sleep with your siblings, or relatives, your conscience is dead.
8. If you can steal Church equipment, your conscience is dead.
9. If you can be caught openly in sin, yet you arrogantly stroll around without any form of repentance or restitution, you’re dead in sin.
10. If you enjoy yourself as a lesbian or gay, your conscience is not only dead, you need deliverance.
11. If you are bold enough to drug and rape a girl, your conscience is dead.
12. If you can carry sacrifices in the night to kill, steal or destroy your fellow man because of position in politics, and worse still, in the Church, your conscience is dead. You’re not born again
13. If you can be dating two members of the choir or sleeping with two members of the same family, your conscience is dead.
Quote: Through pride we are ever deceiving ourselves. But deep down below the surface of the average conscience a still, small voice says to us, something is out of tune – Carl Gustav Jung.
