Bible Reading: Philippians 4:13

Memory Verse:  I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]  Philippians 4:13 (AMP)

Helen Keller was blind and deaf. However, with God’s special grace upon her life, she was able to stretch to her maximum. Her accomplishment is humbling. She is the first blind and deaf female graduate the world has ever produced.

Helen Keller was an American educator, advocate for the blind and deaf and co-founder of the ACLU. Throughout the first half of the 20th century, Keller tackled social and political issues, including women’s suffrage, pacifism, birth control and socialism.

Soon after she graduated from college, Keller became a member of the Socialist Party. Between 1909 and 1921, she wrote several articles about socialism.

In 1946, Keller was appointed counselor of international relations for the American Foundation of Overseas Blind. Between 1946 and 1957, she traveled to 35 countries on five continents.

In 1955, at age 75, Keller embarked on the longest and most grueling trip of her life: a 40,000-mile, five-month trek across Asia. Through her many speeches and appearances, she brought inspiration and encouragement to millions of people.

Keller’s autobiography, The Story of My Life, was used as the basis for 1957 television drama “The Miracle Worker.”

During her lifetime, she received many honors in recognition of her accomplishments, including the Theodore Roosevelt Distinguished Service Medal in 1936, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1964, and election to the Women’s Hall of Fame in 1965. Keller also received honorary doctoral degrees from Temple University and Harvard University and from the universities of Glasgow, Scotland; Berlin, Germany; Delhi, India; and Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. She was also named an Honorary Fellow of the Educational Institute of Scotland.

Friend, you have just read the biography of a supposed blind and deaf woman who, coupled with God’s grace and her destiny helper, Anne Sullivan achieved what many complete and able-bodied men and women couldn’t achieve. Don’t give yourself an excuse to manifest lesser than your divine destiny this year. Go and manifest the glory of God to the highest degree possible. God bless you.
