Bible Reading: Isaiah 53:5

Memory Verse: The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?  Proverbs 18:14 (KJV)

It was the punishment and lack of peace we were meant to suffer that Jesus paid on our behalf. So, we are supposed to have peace that passes all understanding. When somebody has such a peace, no matter the revival of the enemy, he is happy. Although what is happening may not be joyous, but the chastisement of the peace which was upon Jesus should make us have peace. That is what our Bible reading for today is telling us. Jesus was chastised so that we will have peace.

Some people enjoy living in the past. Many are living in a world where before they can get past themselves and know where they are heading, they need the healing of the mind, healing of the emotions, healing of the painful memories of the past, and healing from unfulfilled dreams that you keep talking about, etc. Many still worry themselves about the rejection of the past, wallow in self pity, depression, fear, sorrow, guilt, hatred, inferiority complex, self condemnation, and worthlessness.

All these are sicknesses of the mind. They spend their lives remembering past troubles and disappointments. They just cannot forget the past and that becomes a big problem. When you cannot forget the past and have kept a diary of offences in your heart, it will create an inner wound which will invite sicknesses.

The world has become a strange place. Fearful, angry, depressed, disappointed, and frustrated people are consuming large quantities of alcohol, pain relieving tablets, tranquilizers, and sleeping tablets to calm themselves. Satan has a file on everybody.

The file of all our weaknesses, shortcomings, spiritual sores, failures and fears, embarrassment, feelings of guilt, etc. He knows that as far as you dwell on them, a wound is created in your spirit. The flies of Beelzebub will ravage the wound in the mind and spirit, which could later lead to physical sicknesses in your body.

Quote: My scars remind me that I did indeed survive my deepest wounds. That in itself is an accomplishment. And they bring to mind something else, too. They remind me that the damage life has inflicted on me has, in many places, left me stronger and more resilient. What hurt me in the past has actually made me better equipped to face the present – Steve Goodier.

THE QUIET DESTROYERS (2)

One of the greatest dangers in the life of a believer is not the sins everyone can see, but the ones that hide quietly in the heart. These sins rarely attract attention, yet they slowly drain spiritual strength and weaken a man’s destiny. Hebrews 12:1 says, “Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles”...
