Bible Reading: Matthew 6:34

Memory VerseThis is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)

A certain king was walking with his minister one day. When he got to a farm, he saw a farmer, along with his family. Husband, wife and son were buzzing. So much life in them! Their faces were radiant, they were happy, they were beaming with joy. They were singing. They had so much affection and love for each other. The king said to his minister, “I have a massive palace and I have everything one could dream of, but these guys are happier than me. Why?” The minister said “Sir, this family is yet to be a member of the 99 club.” The king asked, “What is the 99 club?” The minister said, “Give me 99 gold coins and I will tell you.” So the king gave him a bag of 99 gold coins and the minister said, “After 6 months, I will tell you, not today”.

The minister took that bag of 99 gold coins and put it right at the door step of the farmer. In the morning when the farmer got up, he saw a bag right at his door step. He picked the bag up, went back into his house, excited as he was, he opened the bag and lo and behold, he found gold coins! He has never come across such a stroke of good fortune. He emptied the contents on the floor and started counting. There were 99. “I made a mistake in counting. I am too excited. Let me count again”. He counted again, it was 99. He said, “Who is that idiot who forgot to put one more. He should have made it a round figure. Why 99? So he called his wife to recount”. She counted 99 again. No, they are not doing it right as well. So he called his son, “You count”. But everybody counted 99. He said, “God, we can’t live like this. We have to make it 100.” So he started working hard to get that one gold coin.

And it would take him months and years to get one. He became stressed and irritable, shouting and agitated at the slightest instance at his wife and children. Six months passed by and the King and the minister were walking by. And the buzz had gone, the life had gone, the song had gone, the love had gone; only arguments, fights, bickering. The king queried, “What had happened? How did they change so much in just 6 months?” The minister said, “Now they are officially members of the 99 club”. So the king said, “Man, you took 99 gold coins, what is the 99 club?”. The minister said, “99 club is a club of those who have 99 gold coins, but keep running after one more coin in order to satisfy their covetousness whilst they forget to utilise the 99. So, don’t wait for the destination but start finding happiness while you are on the journey. Don’t postpone your happiness until later. Today, you may have big challenges but that doesn’t mean you should postpone your happiness and contentment. HAPPINESS IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION. Always aim for higher grounds; don’t settle for mediocrity or complacency, but, don’t forget to be grateful to God, be happy at the spot, and enjoy the moment.

Quote: Wealth will reveal ‘you to you’ better than poverty.

Prophetic Decree: I cast out the spirit of covetousness out of your life, in Jesus name.
