Memory Verse:  Be unceasing and persistent in prayer1 Thessalonians 5:17 (AMP)

The world is increasingly becoming busy. The 21st century world is becoming increasingly fast paced. The evolution of Science and Technology is unmatched.  However, we must keep the standards of God sure. There are many who have a better relationship with their phones than with God. Many have forgotten the place of prayer in their daily routines.

Pressure of bills as in the Western world, and beating the traffic as in most urban cities of the world, have made personal prayers old fashioned. Many hop from one online early prayer meeting to another in search of a God who dwells within them. Friends, we need a balance.

Daniel was that man who was determined not to let his circumstances distract, deter, or discourage him from the most important thing – his personal time with God. He was so committed to this priority that he built his schedule, each and every day, around his prayer times. And Daniel’s life showed great fruit and blessing as a result.

There is a verse in the first chapter of Daniel that tells us a lot about Daniel. Verse 8 says, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank.” Other versions say that Daniel “resolved” or he “determined,” which means, at the onset of Daniel’s ministry, he made a decision to honour God and obey His commands.

Daniel also made a decision about his prayer life. Remember, praying on a schedule was not part of the Jewish law that Daniel had learned as a young child. It certainly was not what was modelled for him in heathen Babylon. He made his own determination about what was right and necessary for him and he “purposed in his heart” to follow through.

So, how about you? Are you ready, like Daniel, to purpose in your heart to make prayer a priority? Are you ready to make such a commitment that you schedule your day around your time with God?

QuoteUntil you start to pray, you may not fully realise the power of prayer.

Prophetic Decree: Let the East wind of heaven blow away the old ashes on your prayer altar, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I receive the grace and the discipline to prioritise prayers daily, in Jesus name.

2. Holy Spirit, please prompt me to pray without season and help me to yield to your promptings, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to maximise my stray time such as break or lunch hour in prayer, Bible study and deep meditation, in Jesus name.

4. Every spirit of laziness and indiscipline on the altar of prayer, depart from me, in Jesus name.

5. Fresh fire for prevailing prayer, fall upon me, in Jesus name.
