Bible Reading: Philippians 4:6, 2 Peter 1:5-8
Memory Verse: The LORD is more pleased when we do what is right and just than when we offer him sacrifices. Proverbs 21:3 (NLT)
You see, you don’t need to be a Christian to have a good common sense. The life of Christ simply aids it and provides a premise for which all glory returns to God. And of course, that’s the reason for our existence – Worship!
As responsible citizens and as someone from a good home, we all need to understand social etiquette. We all need to have a standard by which we function, no matter the odds against us. We all need to know the difference between what is right and what is wrong. Unfortunately, many have developed a reprobate mind, and seems to have lost their minds.
When you see a parent fight in public in front of his children. When you see married couples do all manner of things in the name of skits on the social media. When you see the wife of another man and the husband of another woman do despicable things in the name of ‘professional careers,’ you wonder where has our value systems gone to?
Amazingly, there are still a few remnants, who, despite the corruption of these days, their fame, and their celebrity status have chosen not to be mentally and morally bankrupt; upholding good moral values in a corrupt system.
One of such people once said, “I’ll never do ads for alcohol or gambling…I’ve had a very successful career. I’ve done Super Bowl commercials, Toyota ads, Nike campaigns, and I’m proud to represent brands that align with my values. It’s the same with my movie career. I’ve turned down countless roles where I’d just be running around, sleeping with different women. That’s just not the kind of image I want to portray.”
Challenge
1a. Have you got high moral values?
1b. Should you? What is your asking price? What could you probably trade for such – money, anger, forgiveness, fame, a movie role, etc.?
2. The true test of your values comes when you are under intense pressure to compromise. Surely, that day will come! Receive grace!
Quote: The Internet and social media is undermining moral values. Be determined to be different.
Prophetic Decree: Receive grace to uphold the standard of God in this dying world, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. Lord, we are sorry for degradation of character and moral values of this generation.
2. Holy Spirit, help us to shape our culture and moral values, in Jesus name.
3. Unlike Esau, I refuse to sell my birth right, in Jesus name.
4. I receive wisdom to walk in integrity of heart and uprightness of character, in Jesus name.
5. On the day my values shall be tested, like the three Hebrew boys, I shall not compromise in Jesus name.
