Bible Reading: Proverbs 4:7, Ecclesiastes 10:10
Memory Verse: Remember: The duller the axe the harder the work; Use your head: The more brains, the less muscle. Ecclesiastes 10:10 (MSG)
Jennifer Ogorchukwu speaks, mentors, and educate undergraduates and individuals to pursue excellence, discover purpose, and build skills for global influence. She once wrote on a topic: WHY MOST SMART STUDENTS REMAIN BROKE & UNKNOWN. She said: You could graduate with a First Class from the University, but your bank account is still on 100 level. You could have 4.89 CGPA, but no one knows your name beyond the department notice board.
Why?
Because you thought being smart in class was enough. You mastered formulas, but ignored relationships.
You passed exams, but failed to build visibility.
You were busy solving past questions, while others were solving real-life problems.
Let’s be honest…
You didn’t network.
You didn’t speak up.
You didn’t serve anywhere.
You didn’t attend that training because “they’re not paying.” (no remuneration)
Now you’re graduated, brilliant, and broke.
You knew the difference between meiosis and mitosis, but you didn’t know the difference between “LinkedIn” and “left behind.”
You quoted 19 authors in your final year project, but no one can quote you anywhere that matters.
You stayed in the room reading, while your less “brilliant” classmate were out there meeting people, volunteering, learning tech, and building a brand.
Now she’s traveling for international conferences. You? Still waiting for NYSC to discover your potential.
Excellence without exposure is expensive. Smartness without strategy is silent.
Dear smart student, wake up!
Your CGPA might get you applause, but your skills, voice, and visibility get you opportunities.
So here’s the hard truth:
Your brilliance won’t trend if you don’t increase your market value.
Your silence won’t feed you.
Your pride won’t pay you.
Be smart in class, but be pragmatic in life. Because if the world doesn’t know you, they can’t pay you.
Quote: Not slothful in business, fervent in Spirit, serving the Lord.
Prophetic Decree: You will not be loaded but grounded, in Jesus name.
