Bible Reading: Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 10:23
Memory Verse: “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. 1 Corinthians 10:23 (NIV)
Strive Masiyiwa is a prominent Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist who is also a committed Christian. He is the founder and executive chairman of Econet Group and Cassava Technologies, a global technology conglomerate, and a recognised pioneer in the African mobile telecom industry. He is also known for his significant philanthropic efforts, particularly in education and health, through various foundations and initiatives.
As a Christian billionaire, he once shared his thoughts on Money. He said and I quote: “Evaluating Anyone’s Wealth Based On The Cars They Drive Is Dumb! If you still think someone is rich just because they’re driving a fancy car… you’ve already disqualified yourself from real wealth conversations. You’ve fallen for the trap designed to keep you broke but impressed.
Dr Strive Masiyiwa – one of Africa’s wealthiest billionaires – hasn’t driven a car for more than 20 years. Why? He says: “There’s nothing more ridiculous to me than owning a fleet of expensive cars… If someone is dumb enough to evaluate my wealth by what I drive, then they’re really dumb – what if it’s on loan?”
Let that sink in.
– Not every Mercedes is owned.
– Not every Range Rover is paid off.
– Not every shiny 4×4 equals financial freedom.
Some people are driving debt. Others are walking in destiny.
Here’s what they won’t teach you on social media:
– Real wealth is in ownership, not appearance.
– Real power is in cash flow, not car keys.
– Real flex is freedom, not faking it to look rich while staying poor.
And this part hit me hard: “In my businesses, I do NOT accept fancy company cars for executives. They should buy their own using their salaries.”
Boom.
That’s how people who BUILD wealth think. Not flash. Not status. But discipline.
So the next time someone tries to flex on you with their latest wheels, just smile.
They might have the car, but do they have cash flow? They might have the keys but do they have assets? They might have the shine, but do they have peace of mind?
Let’s raise the bar. Let’s stop clapping for liabilities. Let’s stop confusing debt for dignity. Let’s stop measuring success with steering wheels.
Quote: Without discipline and a counter-cultural way of thinking, you may not achieve true wealth.
Prophetic Decree: Receive grace to work against existing money culture, in Jesus name.
