Bible Reading:  Luke 22: 40-44

Memory Verse:  But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayedLuke 5:16 (NIV)

We shall be doing a generation a big disfavour if we fail to teach them how to pray effectively. Prayer is first a means of communication with your God. Prayer is your telephone to heaven. Prayer is fellowshipping with the Spirit of God. Prayer is a lifestyle of any true believer. Prayer is a love relationship with your God. Couples who love each other never gets tired of talking to each other. Similarly, you are the bride of Christ, why then won’t you talk daily with Christ, your bridegroom? Pray when you wake up, in the mall, underneath your breath, in your car, in the washroom…everywhere! While it is important to have a structured time to pray, we must also pray without ceasing. God should be the first point of contact over any issue no matter how big or small. Couples talk and see each other in the morning. Those deeply in love also create time out of no time to check on each other during the course of the day via WhatsApp, phone call, or sms. Same with prayer. Drop a love note for your Jesus. His prayer line is always open. No network failure!

Prayer was an intricate part of Jesus’ life and ministry. Jesus never took a decision without prayer. He prayed every morning. He prayed (and added fasting) before he could start his public ministry. He prayed before He could choose his disciples. He prayed all-night. He prayed at Gethsemane before going to the Cross.

Prayer is an act of humility and a show of helplessness. You are simply telling God you cannot do life without Him. When you pray, you are telling God that you’re helpless without His help. Friends, there are many shades to life. The arm of flesh will surely fail you. Men who know how to hold the hand of God in prayer never fail. Friends, the pivot point upon which everything we are and we shall be doing anchors on prayer. No wonder the scriptures says, “Pray without ceasing” 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Prayer releases power unto success and progress (Gen. 32:28).

QuoteThe greatest sign of humility is talking to God in prayer.

Prophetic Decree: Every anti-prayer demon in your life is cast out, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Lord Jesus, forgive me of my prayerlessness, in the name of Jesus.

2. I receive grace to love prayer and to value prayer, in Jesus name.

3. Fresh fire for prayer and supplication, overshadow my life, in Jesus name.

4. I receive grace to pray effectively, in Jesus name.

5. O Lord, increase my prayer power, in Jesus name.
