Memory Verse: Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17 (NIV)
The fourth route to becoming a better version of yourself is walking the talk, otherwise called, Take Action.
4. Take Action: Faith Without Works is Dead. “How long will you wait before you begin to take possession of the land…?” Joshua 18:3 (NIV). “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” James 2:17 (NIV).
In Joshua 18, the tribes of Israel had been given land by God, but they sat back and did nothing. Joshua had to challenge them: “How long will you wait?”
Many believers do the same. We have prophecy, vision, and ideas, but no execution.
Nehemiah saw the ruins of Jerusalem and didn’t just pray. He planned, gathered resources, and rebuilt the wall.
Deuteronomy 2:24 (BSB) says, “Arise, set out, and cross the Arnon Valley. See, I have delivered into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle.”
The same God who told the Israelites He had given them the land of Canaan also told them to contend for it in battle. That was the strategy! Indirectly, God was saying it is settled in the spirit but fight for its manifestation in the physical. War into them (1 Timothy 1:18). Now, imagine how many blessings of yours are hanging in the spirit realm because you did not take responsibility; because you did not take action. Faith is an action word!
Friends, prayer without action is passivity. You’re not waiting on God; God is waiting on your obedience. All things are yours, but you must fight to take possession.
Many believers hide behind phrases like, “I’m waiting on God.” But often, it’s not that you’re waiting on God; it’s that God is waiting on you to act on what He already told you. Faith is not passive; it is aggressive. God never called Abraham until he left his father’s house. Destiny is not discovered in comfort; it is revealed in movement. Stop waiting for the perfect time. The time is now. Take action.
A coach once said, “Winners take imperfect action, while losers are still perfecting the plan. Action is the most important key to any success.
Quote: Stop waiting for the perfect time. The time is now. Take action.
