Bible Reading: Ephesians 6: 2–3, Proverbs 3: 9–10
Memory Verse: Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings. Proverbs 22:29 (KJV)
Favour is that special product from heaven that is available but obtainable through wisdom. Today, let’s consider certain keys that activate favour.
1. HONOUR: It was Apostle Joshua Selman who said honour is the recognition, celebration, and reward of value. To honour is to discern who or what carries grace, wisdom, or authority and respond appropriately.
Dishonour blocks the flow of favour because it offends the divine order that channels grace through men. Many times when a door closes and refuses to open, the padlock was dishonour. 1 Samuel 2:30 says, “Them that honour Me, I will honour.” Jesus could not do mighty works in His hometown because they dishonoured Him (Matthew 13:57–58).
Honour opens doors that skill and certificates cannot. Honour must flow upward (to authorities), sideward (to peers), and downward (to subordinates).
Gratitude, submission, punctuality, courtesy, and obedience are practical forms of honour. Many people pray for open doors, but dishonour the very men who carry the keys. For example, Joseph honoured Pharaoh with wisdom, not arrogance, and that single act elevated him overnight (Genesis 41:14–44).
Speak respectfully to and about people, especially to your leaders and mentors. Be quick to show appreciation. Never trivialize grace carriers. Honour what you want to attract.
2. VALUE: Value means usefulness. This is the degree to which your presence, skills, or character solve problems for others. People don’t reward need; they reward value. “Favour is attracted to value the way bees are attracted to honey.” — Apostle Joshua Selman.
Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dream made him valuable enough to rule Egypt (Genesis 41:38–44). Similarly, David’s skill in music brought him before King Saul (1 Samuel 16:18–23). Friends, you need to be exceptionally valuable, and not marginally valuable.
It’s not enough to be gifted, excellence multiplies favour. Value gives you a voice, access, and longevity. Favour that rests on an empty man fades quickly; favour that rests on value becomes sustainable.
Daniel became favoured in Babylon not because he was a Jew, but because of his exceptional wisdom (Daniel 1:20). Value made the pagan king promote him. Divine favour used his skill as the platform. He was relevant for about 70 years, and saw the reign of four different kings.
Challenge
I. Identify what you can do that benefits others and refine it.
II. Read, train, and learn continuously.
III. Serve people with your value. That’s how God exposes you to favour.
Quote: Favour is attracted to value (usefulness) the way bees are attracted to honey — Apostle Joshua Selman.
Prophetic Decree: May honour and value establish the favour of God in your life, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. I repent of dishonour that has blocked the flow of favour from God, my parents (biological and spiritual), teachers, mentors, and boss, in Jesus name.
2. I receive a heart of honour for all men – both old and young, in Jesus name.
3. I receive grace for gratitude, submission, punctuality, courtesy, and obedience as practical forms of honour, in Jesus name.
4. Holy Spirit, please open my eyes to my talents and grace that would make me extremely valuable before kings and not mean men, in Jesus name.
5. I receive an insatiable appetite to consistently upskill and to daily become a better me, in Jesus name.
