Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 2:20

Memory VerseNow we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it!  2 Corinthians 5:17 (MSG)

Emmanuela Mike-Bamiloye once wrote: “Recently, I stopped by a supermarket to pick up a few things for the house. As I walked through one of the aisles, I overheard two workers talking. They had recognised me. One said, “That’s Emmanuela Mike-Bamiloye, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye’s wife.” The other replied, “Oh, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye, is he the one that’s fat?”

I smiled and kept shopping. Later, when I got to the car, I gisted my husband, and we both laughed. Why? Because that description no longer fits him. Yes, he was once on the big side, but not anymore. The comment didn’t sting because it’s simply not true of him anymore.

I share this to remind you: When the enemy whispers lies, “You’re a sinner. You’re worthless. You’re ugly. You have no value. You are filthy and loose. No one loves you”, the only reason those words hurt is because you think they might be true. But they’re not. God’s Word says in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.

So the next time condemning thoughts creep in, answer with Scripture. Smile and laugh at the devil. Those accusations describe who you were, not who you are.”

Friends, ‘who you were’ before you gave your life to Christ, and ‘who you are’ now that you are born again are completely different. You’re not an updated version of who you used to be, rather, you are a completely new person according to the Scripture. Your past life, irrespective of the gravity of the sin, atrocities, or abomination you might have committed are no more legal tenders before the throne of grace. The devil, who is the accuser of brethren knows this, but you have to enforce it.

If God could use a man like Saul of Tarsus, a man who personally qualified himself as chief amongst sinners (1 Timothy 1:15), then, your past sins shouldn’t traumatise your present or future. Friends, reject the inner label your past is calling you. You are no less a Christian. You have been bought, washed, cleansed and sanctified by the Blood of Jesus. The Blood that speaks atonement and recompense for all your sins. Know this, and know peace. Shalom to your new life. Sin shall no longer have dominion over you! (Rom. 6:14)

QuoteWhen the devil remind you of your terrible past, remind him vocally of his doomed future.

Prophetic Decree: Receive the inner might to win the internal battles of your mind, in Jesus name.
