SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE (2)

Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 17: 31-58

Memory Verse:  This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 1 Corinthians 2:13 (NIV)

Spiritual intelligence is the ability to honour God’s voice without suspending your God-given reasoning. God does not replace your mind when He speaks; He expects your discernment to cooperate with revelation.

When someone claims divine approval saying, “God said you are my wife” or “God told me this is the path”, spiritual maturity demands a response, not blind acceptance. You are not only marrying a prophecy; you are choosing a person. Divine confirmation must meet personal conviction. God may choose, but you must also choose.

This is not rebellion against God; it is alignment with how He designed decision-making. Faith and wisdom are not enemies. Revelation and responsibility must walk together.

David understood this balance. When standing before Saul, he did not present spiritual language; he presented competence. He spoke in the language of experience: I have killed a lion and a bear. Saul needed evidence, not theology.

But when David faced Goliath, he did not rely on credentials. He spoke in the language of faith: I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts. Goliath did not need David’s résumé; he needed to know David’s God.

The lesson is simple: what you say depends on who you are standing before, and what you rely on depends on the context. Spiritual intelligence knows when to speak faith and when to present facts—without contradicting either.

Many people escape responsibility by hiding behind spirituality. Later, when things collapse, they blame God. Like Adam, they say, “It was the woman you gave me.” That is not faith; that is avoidance. God does not accept decisions you refuse to own. True wisdom asks both questions: “What did God say?” and, “What do I see?” Both answers must agree.

Practical Example

A Christian woman is approached by a man who says, “God told me you are my wife.” Spiritual intelligence does not argue with God—but it also does not switch off discernment. She responds wisely: Thank you for sharing what God said. Let me ask you: Do you enjoy my company? Do we communicate well? Are we aligned in values, vision, and character? Can I see responsibility, growth, and emotional maturity? If the man becomes uncomfortable with these questions, that is already an answer. Why? Because marriage is not sustained by prophecy alone but by daily wisdom. In the same way: When applying for a job, you pray, but you also prepare your CV. When starting a ministry, you seek God, but you also build structure. When choosing a spouse, you pray, but you also choose consciously. God speaks, but He expects you to think. Spiritual intelligence is not choosing between faith and logic; it is allowing both to serve God together. Ask God. Ask questions. Own your decisions. That is maturity.
