Bible Reading: Psalm 63:1

Memory Verse:  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to youMatthew 6:33 (NKJV)

It is a new quarter in Year 2026. What can you say about your passion for God? In a world full of distractions, digital/social media noise, and of course, activities that legitimately place a demand on your time, can you say that God remains number 1 in your heart? Where’s your first love?

What is passion for God? Passion for God is a holy fire in the heart that yearns for more of God. It is a deep, burning love that places God at the centre of your desires, decisions, and devotion. It is not mere excitement, noise, or religious activity; it is an inward affection that expresses itself outwardly in obedience, hunger, reverence, and surrender.

To be passionate for God is to love Him for who He is, not only for what He gives. It is the cry of the psalmist: “Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.” Passion for God is the soul leaning toward God, longing for His presence, grieving His absence, and rejoicing in His nearness.

True passion for God is sustained, not seasonal. It remains in private before it is ever seen in public. It is what keeps a believer faithful when no one is watching and steadfast when emotions are low. When you hear believers say, “I don’t have time for Christian service or personal devotion with God,” know for sure that passion is dying.

Friends, be wary of the myth of ‘no time.’  You will always have time for what is dearest to your heart notwithstanding other activities. David was renowned as a man after God’s heart because of His passion for God. He likened his passion to be like a deer pants after the sound of many waters.

Friends, hope the legitimate activities of buying and selling, child care, career, school, house chores, etc. haven’t doused your passion for more of God in your heart? Beware! The devil would rather come subtly using so-called legitimate activities to encumber your soul, distract your focus from what is most important, and ultimately reduce your passion for God.

WHY PEOPLE TRY TO JUSTIFY THEIR ACTIONS

There are days you shouldn't talk. Silence could be golden, but not all the time. That aside, some people are just too defensive. They can never accept they are wrong or sit down to chat through a difficult conversation. In Genesis 3, when confronted, Adam justified himself by blaming Eve...

DON’T ALWAYS DEFEND YOURSELF

Growth demands honesty. And honesty is impossible when you are always in survival mode, always explaining, always protecting your image. When every correction feels like rejection, the heart closes instead of learning. But Scripture reminds us that the Lord disciplines those He loves...
