Bible Reading: Romans 8:28; Genesis 50:20
Memory Verse: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Life doesn’t always make sense especially when pain shows up uninvited. Ola Orekunrin was just 22, a medical student in the UK, when tragedy struck. While on a visit to Nigeria, her 12-year-old sister became critically ill. The situation became urgent and she needed to be airlifted abroad. But there was a painful reality: no air ambulance service existed in Nigeria or even West Africa at the time. By the time help came, it was too late. Her sister died.
That kind of pain can break a person. It can make you bitter, angry, or withdrawn. But instead of allowing grief to consume her, Ola asked a powerful question: “Should I stay comfortable, or should I do something about this problem?” From that pain, purpose was born.
She left her medical path in the UK and started Flying Doctors Nigeria, the first air ambulance service in West Africa. Today, lives are being saved because one woman refused to waste her pain. That’s how God works.
In Genesis 50:20, Joseph said, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good.” God didn’t cause the pain, but He used it. That’s the difference.
Your pain may not feel good, but it is not useless. That rejection may be pointing you to your real assignment. That loss may be shaping your compassion. That delay may be building your strength. God is too intentional to waste your tears.
The truth is, some of the greatest callings are born in the place of deepest pain. The question is not, “Why did this happen?” but “Lord, what can You do through this?”
Don’t run from your pain. Bring it to God. Let Him process it, refine you through it, and reveal purpose in it. One day, what broke you may become the very thing God uses to build others.
Quote: God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is his megaphone to rouse a deaf world – C.S. Lewis.
Prophetic Decree: That pain shall not break you. Rather, it shall reveal your purpose to you, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
Lord, help me not to waste my pain. Open my eyes to see Your purpose in every situation. Heal my heart, and use my experiences to be a blessing to others, in Jesus name. Amen.
