Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 4:5a
Memory Verse: If one gives an answer before he hears, it is his folly and shame. Proverbs 18:13 (ESV)
It was Sis Esther Ebunoluwa Omoniyi who wrote: You and this brother are not in any definite relationship. He didn’t propose marriage to you. He never asked you out. You are not engaged to him. You will agree he is not your fiancé. He is also not anything to you in clear terms but you have built love and nameless romantic affair around each other for years.
Now, brother is in love with someone else or getting married and you are broken. You feel betrayed and abandoned. The way sisters express the bitterness is amusing and annoying.
The question is: Did he propose marriage to you? If no is the answer, please let’s now know what we are doing, sisters. It’s not making sense. The moment you realise your interaction is going overboard, define the friendship.
Ask questions? Why is he calling you everyday and night? Why the endless chatting into the night? Why is he calling you pet names? Why is he taking you out on special dates?
If you are not bold enough to ask questions, just pull away from the undefined closeness. Don’t pick his calls! Ignore his chats for some days! Call when you feel like! Put timing to conversation! If he wants something deeper, he will speak up when it feels like you are sliding away. Stop using these brothers as emotional pillows.
This is another warning before they pull out the pillow and your head lands on the ground. Please free those brothers from your resentment and bitterness. Let them go.
Sisters have sense.
Buying you shawarma is not “Marry Me”!
He picks lunch for you, not “Marry Me”!
He goes all out for you, not “Marry Me”!
He chats with you are not “Marry Me”!
He encourages you to do your spiritual practices, not “Marry Me”!
Even if he buys flowers for you, it is not “Marry Me”!
Even salvation is believing in your HEART and CONFESSING with your MOUTH the Lord Jesus Christ. He must talk about his intention. As long as he didn’t come out straight, maintain a distance.
Quote: Assumptions could be costly when intentions aren’t known.
Prophetic Decree: Anyone who will use and dump you shall be far away from you, in Jesus name.
