Bible Reading: Eph. 5:15-16, Mat. 16:25

Memory Verse: The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.  Proverbs 19:8 (NIV)

When you see a man selling handkerchiefs and still sweating profusely in traffic, it tells you that possession is not the same as ownership! Your life belongs to God; you are only having it but you do not own it. So, be careful what you do with your life before the owner asks for it. On his death bed, Alexander the Great summoned his army generals and told them his three ultimate wishes: i) “His Physicians alone must” carry his coffin ii) The wealth he has accumulated (money, gold, precious stones) should be scattered along the procession to the cemetery iii) His two hands should be kept dangling out of his coffin for people to see.

One of his generals who was surprised by these unusual requests asked Alexander to explain. Here is what Alexander the Great had to say:

I. “I want the best doctors to carry my coffin to demonstrate that in the face of death; even the best doctors in the world have no power to heal”

II. “I want the road to be covered with my treasure so that everybody sees that material wealth acquired on earth stays on earth”

III. I want my hands to swing in the wind, so that people understand that we come to this world empty handed and we leave this world empty handed after the most precious treasure of all is exhausted, and that is: TIME.

We must be wise to learn from mighty men who have gone ahead of us and pick up some life lessons. There is a way life works! In life, you must discover and pursue vigorously your primary assignment (that problem God wants you to solve), pursue your secondary bonus and value your tertiary attachment. Lay hold on what matters and you will not regret your ending. Inside your primary assignment (destiny), is everything you will ever need – wealth, fame, glory etc.

Quote:  Don’t major on minor things and do not minor on major things. Life is like a leaf that will soon perish. Time is of essence.

Prophetic Decree: May you never be a negative example for others to learn from.

Prayer Focus

  1. My Father, I repent of anyway I might have lived my life for myself, my parents or an idol, in Jesus name.
  2. Transformational power of the Holy Ghost, enter into my life, in Jesus name.
  3. O Lord my God, give me grace to live for You, in Jesus name.
  4. If I am on the wrong path O Lord, smite me with your rod of mercy until I align my ways with yours, in Jesus name.
  5. My life will not be a deterrent for others, in Jesus name.
