Bible Reading: Galatians 5: 16-26
Memory Verse: Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Galatians 5:24 (NLT)
To be crucified with Christ is to dead with Christ. As unto Jesus on the Cross of Calvary after 3 days, at the point of crucifixion, there is an exchange of life. The life of the flesh dies for the life of the Spirit to come alive. To be crucified means to be dead to self, sin, and all the affections (things that provoke) of the flesh.
A California woman, Vicky Umodu received a couch from a stranger online for free while browsing a furniture company online. She made the discovery of a lifetime when she later found $36,000 in cash tucked away inside. The woman later learned the family was giving away the furniture due to the recent passing of a loved one. This woman notified the family offering to return the money. Her generosity was rewarded with $2,200 for the purchase of a refrigerator.
But, why on earth would this woman who perhaps was living a modest life return such a huge amount? The answer is simple. She is crucified. She has nailed greed to the Cross at Calvary. She has learnt to be contented with what she has. Only a depth of encounter with the Man of Calvary could have produced this dimension. When you are no more moved with the dainties of this world, the fashion trends of this world, the uncanny passion for materialism, etc., then you are crucified. Friends, what is the price for your soul? What is the price for your heart? With $1,200 dollars, some women are ready to sleep with a dog. Just for Sharwama and a cruise in a sport car, some ladies will lose their virginity.
The pressure of house rent has made some brothers liars and fraudsters in their work place. The quest to make it big has made some firebrands now Yahoo Yahoo boys. Haven’t you heard of people who boldly say, “Everyone has a price”. Be warned. May you not have the money Jesus hasn’t given you. May you not have the car Jesus hasn’t given you. May you not have the house and holiday trip Jesus hasn’t given you. Please wait for your time. Yes, I know waiting upon the Lord could be very stretchy. You don’t know when, where or how He will come. But what do you expect after all? Can you name one thing in heaven and on earth that is precious and gotten cheaply? Absolutely none.
Waiting upon the Lord is one way God uses to crucify our flesh, proof our motives, cross-check our intentions. Question: Are you lost in Him? Are you willing to wait all your life until God’s promises come to pass in your life in His own time? Brethren, are you crucified?
Quote: Are you dead to self or just hibernating?
Prophetic Decree: May everything this world have got to offer lose its grip over your heart, in Jesus name.
