Bible Reading: Jeremiah 2:19; 3:22

Memory Verse:  I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. Hosea 14:4 (NIV)

Continued from yesterday…

6. While many were back home in Africa, they could pray for long hours, engage in personal and corporate evangelism, fast and sow seeds; they were active church workers. But now that they left the shores of their motherland for the developed world, money has become their idol. Friends, don’t be deceived; yes, there are bills to be paid but no amount of money can satisfy a carnal soul. Return back to your source. Your elevation of status shouldn’t be a minus to your personal walk with God.

7. There are Christians who were faithful to their spouse yesterday but today are now adulterers. “Men fall in private long before they fall in public” – J. C. Ryle.

8. There are Christians who now break their consecration vows – they eat what they are not meant to eat and drink what they are not meant to drink, etc. The lover of our soul is calling you today to return back to Bethel.

9. Dear sister/brother, don’t allow the pressure of childlessness, delayed marriage, promotion at work etc, start to make you compromise your faith. “When you are not sure of your salvation, it is very easy to get discouraged and to backslide” – Zac Poonen.

10. If today you are no more sensitive to little sins. You can take a cup or pen that does not belong to you, you lie without your conscience pricking, you talk arrogantly to your Pastor or parents, then, you are a backslider. The best way to avoid going downhill is to stay off the slope – Woodrow Kroll.

Let’s roundoff in the words of John Owen, “There is only one way to be revived and healed from our backslidings so that we may become fruitful even in old age. We must take a steady look at the glory of Christ in His special character, in His grace and work, as shown to us in the Scripture”.

Quote:  The Christian life is very much like climbing a hill of ice. You cannot slide up. You have to cut every step with an ice axe. Only with incessant labor in cutting and chipping can you make any progress. If you want to know how to backslide, leave off going forward. Cease going upward and you will go downward of necessity. You can never stand still – Charles Spurgeon.

Prophetic Decree: Let the garment of backsliding around your life, catch fire, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I repent of my backsliding in Jesus name.

2. Fresh fire of revival, fall upon my soul, in Jesus name.

3. Sing the hymn, “Give me Oil in my lamp, keep me burning” on page 104.

4. Fiery darts of the enemy thrown at me, backfire, in Jesus name.

5. I receive grace for consistency in my walk with God, in Jesus name.
