Bible Reading: Hebrews 4:12; 12:4

Memory Verse: In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. Hebrews 12:4 (NIV)

There was a youth pastor. He was quite anointed by God. He could cast out demons in the life of his congregants, but he was suffering from the secret sin of pornography and masturbation. His deliverance came when he humbly admitted that he needed help.

Friends, be humble enough to know when you need help, and please, kindly ask godly and matured people to help. He heard of an old prophet who couldn’t speak good English, but only his native language. This old man could pray for 4 hours, and preach only for 25 minutes. 

One day as this old prophet preached, he said: “Don’t think you have power with God when you raise the dead, heal the sick, or open the eyes of the blind. You have power with God only when you have successfully dealt with that secret sin in your life by confronting the devil”.

The only Bible passage he used was Hebrews 4:12, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”.

The youth pastor got mad in his spirit, and embarked on a three-day prayer and fasting retreat alone with God. “O Lord, you must deliver me”. Hmm…when the deliverer needs deliverance! A scripture jumped out from his spirit, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:5 (NIV). He prayed, prayed, and prayed.

The urge to masturbate came even during the course of the retreat despite the fasting and prayer, and he resisted it with the last pint of his blood. “In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.” Hebrews 12:4 (NIV). You won’t be delivered from that sin that has vowed to grow as you grow in life, ministry and destiny without some iota of ‘holy desperation’ and ‘holy madness’. 

When he eventually fell asleep, he had a revelation. A naked woman came out of him, and bid him goodbye. And that was it! The urge for masturbation and pornography died instantly. There is a dimension of holy and violent anger coupled with deep hatred for all manner of secret sin needed in your spirit before certain problems leave.

Don’t be normal harbouring secret sin in your bosom for too long. Could it be anger, lying, fornication, gluttony, forgery, adultery, uncontrolled sexual urge, bestiality, homosexuality (gay and lesbianism), etc.? Many times, there’s an evil spirit involved. You pull down stronghold. 

Challenge that spirit in holy anger via the light from the scripture. Remember, “Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.” Romans 6:14 (NLT)

Quote:  Until you are violent against the stronghold of sin in your life, you can’t truly be free. 

Prophetic Decree: By the power in the Blood of Jesus you are free from every easily besetting sin, in Jesus name. 

Prayer Focus 

1. With violent anger say: I pull down the stronghold of sin (mention that particular secret sin) in my life, in Jesus name 

2. I challenge my life by the fire of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus name. 

3. Any demon of lust and sexual immorality, I file a spiritual divorce today, in Jesus name. 

4. By the verdict of the court of heaven, I break any evil spiritual marriage by the power in the Blood of Jesus.

5. Altar of unrighteousness in my body, I challenge you by fire, in Jesus name. 

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 5-6, 2 Chronicles 2-3
