DWOJ Daily Words of Jesus Devotional Post August

Saturday, 27th August, 2016.

Scripture Reading:    Colossians 3:16

Memory verse for the week:   1 Sam 3:4

“The voice of the Lord said Samuel’s name; and he said, Here am I.” (BBE)

“To memorize” is “to commit to heart”. It is to be able to recite a particular thing without looking at the original manual from which it was learnt.

The great Apostle Ayo Babalola was able to recite the whole book of Psalms from chapter 1 to 150 off-heart. I once heard of a man while quoting a very long chapter of the Bible suddenly paused and asked for the permission of the audience to quote the remaining part adding all punctuation marks.

With billions of brain cells available in your head and various Bible apps on our technological devices, it is sad that Bible memorization seems difficult to most teens.

A teen who memorizes the Bible will not be far from divine guidance. The Holy Spirit is committed to bringing back the Bible we store in our heart to our remembrance so that we will not sin against God. Psalm 119:11. Bible memorization helps us to defeat the devil when he comes with his numerous temptations just like Jesus did. Jesus always had a Word stored up in His spirit whenever the devil came tempting Him. He always said “It is written…” Mat 4:4, 7, and 10.

What do you know that is written concerning your life, your academics, future, and destiny in the Bible? Study to show yourself approved….2 Tim 2:15.

Don’t be too lazy to store the word of God in your heart. Commit all the memory verses in this devotional to heart. With God, all things are possible! Luke 1:37.

ACTION WORD:       MEMORIZE ALL THE MEMORY VERSES IN THIS DEVOTIONAL.

PRAYER POINT:

  1. Appetite for the word of God, fall upon me ,in the name of Jesus
  2. I receive grace to retain the word of God in my spirit, in the name of Jesus.
