Bible reading: 2 Samuel 13: 23-39

Memory Verse: Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. Hebrews 12:15(NKJV)

…the Helper of the helpless, the God whom we serve sent a man to him in his state of bitterness to witness Jesus to him. Initially, he declined, but thereafter, got born again and began life afresh. At one time or another, we have been hurt by people dear to us – be it a friend, sibling, our parent or close associates. But, must this unforgiveness and bitterness hinder us from moving forward in life? Absolutely no! A bitter soul doesn’t make merry. Life seems torturous for a bitter spirit. A bitter soul seeks revenge as we saw in the case of Absalom against Amnon, his half brother in our Bible reading. Absalom was full of revenge two years after Amnon raped Tamar, his sister. Bitterness torments her victim with a feeling of hopelessness and uncertainty leading to low self esteem, blurred aspirations, deplorable state of health and redrawal syndrome. Yes, such a person could be redrawn from his/her potential destiny helper! You can’t afford to shut down your future because of your past. Come out of bitterness, control the present and secure your future.

What do you do? Accept the hope Jesus has got to offer. Psalm 27:10 GWT says “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will take care of me”. There is still hope for a tree if it is not cut off, at the sound of water, it shall blossom again. When there is life, there is hope. Flee bittereness.

Quote: Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host.

Prophetic decree: Receive joy from the spring of life, in Jesus name.
