Bible Reading: Proverbs 18:24

Memory VerseA man [that hath] friends must show himself friendly.” Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)

Your support system is a network of people that can provide you with practical or emotional support. Your support system are members of your inner circle who are loyal to you come what may. Take it or leave it, no man is an island. If you think you need no one around you, please have a rethink. The battles of life can give a deadly blow to the strongest of us. That is why you need to invest in meaningful relationships.

That is why you need to build a support system. Jesus had a support system. Many followed him but He did not commit himself to all. He deliberately invested in 12 people whom he called disciples. They were members of His inner caucus. Friend, the vicissitudes of life is highly dynamic, hence we must prepare for any surprise.

Who do you call upon in the day of trouble? For instance, the sister in yesterday’s devotional may not have lost her life if she was well integrated in the campus fellowship or local church. Someone could have heard about her plight and offered an helping hand. Perhaps, she isolated herself too much. Friend, shall we trust the Holy Ghost to build a company of helpful individuals around us. But, you owe yourself a responsibility, too:

1. Don’t die in isolation: Some people are too hidden to be seen by anyone. How then do you meet people?

2. Be friendly. Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV), “A man [that hath] friends must show himself friendly.”

3. Make active contribution: In your school, at work, in your neighbourhood, in the Church, etc. Sow the seed of love and be highly valuable. That may trigger a connection.

4. Pray for divine destiny connection.

5. Manage betrayal with wisdom: There is lesson in every disappointment. Don’t stop believing in men and women despite the disappointment and betrayal of a few.

6. Die to shame: “What will people say” has made many a cheap scapegoat in the hands of the enemy. Men will always talk – good or bad. Despise the shame. Ask for help if you need one. The answer could either be Yes or No. Why not prepare for worse case scenario. Only the courageous fulfills destiny.

Quote:  Encourage, lift, and strengthen one another. For the positive energy spread to one will be felt by us all. For we are connected, one and all ― Deborah Day

II. There must be someone whom you can call in the middle of the night and will stand at attention to your needs.

Prophetic Decree: You will not miss your destiny anchors, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Any wall of division between me and my divine helpers, crumble, in Jesus name.

2. Divine connection that will accelerate my destiny, appear, in Jesus name.

3. O Lord, endear me to men that will help me, in Jesus name.

4. Powers pushing bad people to me, and pushing good people away from me, be wasted, in Jesus name.

5. Sin, self, carelessness and disloyalty shall not separate me from my support system, in Jesus name.
