Bible ReadingProverbs 24: 30 – 34

Memory VerseA lazy person is as bad as someone who is destructive. Proverbs 18:9 (GNT)

It was Denis Waitley who opined, “Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can’t buy more hours. Scientists can’t invent new minutes. And you can’t save time to spend it on another day”. Amongst other reasons, procrastination is caused by fear of failure, or perhaps a fear of success.

We procrastinate because we are dealing with perfectionism, low self-esteem, or negative self-belief. Procrastination can also be a result of depression. Feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, and a lack of energy can make it difficult to start (and finish) the simplest task. Depression can also lead to self-doubt.

When you can’t figure out how to tackle a project or feel insecure about your abilities, you might find it easier to put it off and work on other tasks. Procrastination can also be a result of laziness, fear, doubt, bad habit, weakness, or anxiety. Procrastination is a destroyer of blessings. It can rob you of self-confidence, reliability, personal peace, and destiny changing opportunities targeted at leading you to greater glory.

WAY OUT OF PROCRASTINATION:

1. Have a relationship with God.

2. Accept you have a weakness or character defect.

3. Bind and cast out the spirit of procrastination.

4. Decide to be disciplined: By the power of the Holy Ghost, do the right thing at the right time whether you feel like doing it or not.

5. Work with people who don’t procrastinate and who are more knowledgeable in your field.

6. Pray for more grace to always act prompt.

7. Systems thinking:  Consider the disastrous consequences of failure and act at the right time.

Quote:  Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go in – NapoleonBonaparte.

Prophetic Decree: Receive grace for personal self-discipline, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus:

1. Thank you Jesus because you are always on time; and what you said you will do you always do.

2. I break the hold of the spirit of procrastination in my life, in Jesus name.

3. I receive grace to be self motivated, in Jesus name.

4. I come against the fear of failure, perfectionism, low self esteem, and negative self belief, in Jesus name.

5. Today, I receive fresh empowerment of the Holy Ghost, in Jesus name.
