Bible Reading:  Romans 12:11

Memory Verse:  Never lagging behind in diligence; aglow in the Spirit, enthusiastically serving the LordRomans 12:11 (AMP)

A sister wrote: “I once had a course mate who was also a Christian like myself. We would go for our fellowship meetings together, pray together, study the word together and eat together.

Though God was helping us, we had a pass in our Year one courses, of which I wasn’t comfortable with. Besides, if I should continue that way before my final year I would be asked to leave the school because of poor grades.

Then a day came, when I approached my mentor and asked how to produce good grades and he gave me unexpected answers that stung my ego real bad, which was actually biblical but didn’t go down well with me because of my ignorance.

He said, “I know you’re a Christian, but never use it as an excuse to be a mediocre in your academics. Look for people who are better than you in the course you find difficulty and make friends with them.”

He further said, “I’m not against you praying, but study hard as well. If your classmates who are better than you are going to read, please follow them.

Since then, I took it upon myself to heed to his counsel and before the second year rounded up, I saw a tremendous change and being a good friend, I decided to introduce the technique to my course mate of which she later started avoiding me saying,

‘God will help her and that God is her source.’ I tried my best to convince her and also gave her scriptural backings still, all fell on deaf ears, and while I was honoured with a first class degree certificate in my final year, my course mate had already dropped out with the mindset that God is wicked.

Dear People of God, ‘Don’t let your spirituality be a license for your mediocrity.’ I’m not saying that it isn’t possible for the Holy spirit to come through for you in your academic but then, read. Study. He only brings to your remembrance that which you’ve read seen or heard. John 14:26 (NKJV), “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” We know he’s your Helper, your advantage, but please read. Never fold your arms and say, ‘The Holy spirit will do the reading.’ Do your own part.

Assignment: Audit the types of friends you will work with in the New year. Any friend who will not add value to your destiny must not follow you into Year 2024. Friendship is not by force. Friendship is by choice.

Quote:  There is no substitute to hardwork.

Prophetic Decree:  Receive balance in your mindset, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Lord for ever increasing wisdom needed to be a better version of myself.

2. I receive grace to be studious and diligent, in Jesus name.

3. Holy Spirit, please magnetize friends that will provoke the best in me, in Jesus name.

4. O Lord, please help me live a balanced life physically and spiritually, in Jesus name.

5. I receive grace to take responsibility for my life, in Jesus name.
