Bible Reading: 1 Corinthians 6: 19-20

Memory Verse:  But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks common sense andsound judgment and an understanding [of moral principles]; He who would destroy his soul does it. Proverbs 6:32 (AMP)

No other sin is against one’s body save sexual sin. Its consequences include:

1. It robs God of his glory: Our body has one supreme purpose; to glorify God. We didn’t design or make our bodies. God did. Sexual sin robs God of the glory that is duly His (1 Cor. 6: 19-20).

2. It desecrates the temple of God: Our body is God’s temple (1 Cor. 6:19) So, every act of sexual sin is committed in God’s house of worship. What an abomination!

3. It breaks multiple other divine commands: Sexual sin is never compartmentalized. It’s like a submarine with screen doors: the sea enters everywhere. Sexual sin can involve stealing, perhaps, someone’s spouse. We commit idolatry by worshiping our own comfort and pleasure.

4. It haunts your mind: Your heart pricks at the thought of breaking God’s commandment on chastity.

5. It disqualifies from ministry: The Apostle Paul’s approach to sanctification was self-fighting (1 Cor. 9:27). Sometimes, the enemy is our own body (human nature). If he didn’t fight it, it could fulfill its lusts and disqualify him. One must beat his own body into subjection. Allowing one’s body to take over here is a violation of God’s order and thus a disqualification from ministry (1 Tim. 3:2, Titus 1:6). Both young and old mustn’t lose guard.

6. It can dominate, drive, and control: It’s a unique form of suicide. “The one who commits adultery with a woman is lacking sense; he who would destroy himself does it” (Prov. 6:32).

7. It deeply grieves the Holy Spirit: Ezek. 6:9, Hos. 11:8, Eph. 4:30

8. It is an evil against God: When David committed adultery, he called it what it is: Evil (Ps. 51:4). Sexual sin is not a mistake or weakness. It’s wickedness and evil.

Quote: If a guy pressures you to compromise sexually, he is not showing you Christlike, agape love. He’s not encouraging you toward purity and holiness. He’s not striving to honor God in that area of the relationship. He’s focusing on his wants and is sadly using you to satisfy them. He’s being selfish and putting his desires above all else – Bethany Baird

Prophetic Decree: Receive the fire of righteousness, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. The Father of all holiness, I worship You.

2. I receive grace to be sexually pure, in Jesus name.

3. Any viper in my body as a result of any form of sexual sin, come out and die, in Jesus name.

4. Serpents crawling in my body, come out of your hiding place, and roast to ashes, in Jesus name.

5. I gather my fragmented soul together as a result of multiple sexual partners, in Jesus name.
