Bible Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:14-18
Memory Verse: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. 2 Corinthians 4:17
Though the devil made use of the envy and the jealousy of Joseph’s brothers to trouble Joseph, to God, it was a corrective pain. A man who will see into the dreams and visions of heaven must have his mouth bridled. Hence, God permitted the corrective pain and allowed Joseph to be sold into slavery. The slavery then turned out to be his ticket to Egypt and subsequently, his journey to the throne. Unknown to his twelve brothers, they were on a “Nebuchadnezzar’s ministry”. The stronger the hand of God upon your life, the deeper your training will be. Hard training I must confess. God will use anything to correct, refine, trim, or break you; your enemies inclusive. Get ready to have your ego bruised. Get ready to cry for many nights.
However, though weeping may last for a night, joy comes in the morning. Those light corrective pain are not worthy to be compared to the glory that will be revealed afterwards. What a God we serve. Like Joseph, the pathway to the top will always be so dramatic and full of intrigues. Someone once said that the proof that God is for you when you receive the prophecy for your life is confusion. Confusion will characterize your journey of an anointed especially at the beginning. It takes time to be transformed into the image and character of Christ. There could be someone reading this devotional at the moment who is deep in pain and hurt.
Your enemies are probably laughing over your situation thinking you are finished. The promises of God seems bleak. The prophecies hanging over your head seems cloudy. Hold on. Suddenly and I mean very suddenly you will arrive at your divine location in destiny. I challenge you not to despise your pain. Learn from them. They will preserve you when you enter your palace. They are your customized dealings with the Father. They are the very reasons a crown will be placed on your head afterwards. See you at the palace.
Assignment: Do well to watch the film “Pilgrim’s Progress” by John Bunyan
