Bible Reading: Psalm 91: 14-16

Memory Verse: No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life.  Isaiah 65:20a (NLT)

Melchizedek lived for 969 years and the Bible mentioned little or nothing about his achievements or exploits on earth. It seems to me that he didn’t write his name in the sand of time and eternity. On the other hand, Jesus Christ lived for only 33 years. Till today, the entire world is yet to recover from his exploits on earth. Even the Bible did not have enough room to document His many exploits. Friends, it seems to me that while long years on earth is not a bad idea, we must strive to make it count. Don’t just add up years, also add up in impact. What are your old age plans? Wouldn’t you want to  be fruitful even at old age?

What is covenant longevity?

1. Longevity simply means living to your appointed full age (Psalms 91:14-16, Job 5:26).

2. For the believer, it also means living to be above 70yrs (Ps 90:10)

3. Covenant longevity is more than living to an old age; it is living a satisfying long life (Ps 91:16).

4. Long life that is lived in strength and health (Deut 33:24-25).

5. Long life that is satisfying, and lived to the fulfillment of its calling and purpose (Ex. 2, Tim 4:6-8).

6. Long life enjoyed in blessings & influence (Ex. 2, Isa 65:19-23)

7. Long life that leaves a lineage & posterity of grace (Ps 112:1-3, Gen 48:1-3

8. Long life with the assurance of eternal glory (Ex. 2, Heb 9:27, Dan 12:2-39

9. Long life lived in the fulfilment of ones days!

What are the scriptural conditions supporting longevity?

1. Keep your tongue from evil: 1 Peter 3:10 (ESV): “For Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit”

2. Stand on the promise of long life in good health has promised from the scriptures: Psalm 91:16 (ESV): “With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

3. Honour your biological and spiritual parents including anyone that has acted as a parent at a particular time in your life: Exodus 20:12 (ESV) says “Honour your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.”

4. Eat healthy foods and exercise regularly.

5. Have a living and regular relationship with God.

Quote:  Covenant of longevity says, “There shall be no loss”.

Prophetic Decree:  Any arrow of premature death fired at you shall backfire, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. Thank you Father for your covenant of longevity at work in my life.

2. I break the cycle of premature death, in my life, in Jesus name.

3. Altars of premature death in my family, catch fire, in Jesus name.

4. I will not die before I finish my assignment, in Jesus name.

5. I decree and declare that I shall still be fruitful even in old age, in Jesus name.
