Memory Verse: Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Matthew 10:16 (ESV)
I am sure you have met people in life who helped you at certain junctions to achieve a feat. They helped you in securing admission, helped to clinch a political office, helped with schooling, provided food, clothings, and shelter for you when you newly got to town, or mentored and supported you when your parents died. Sir/Ma, you must forever be grateful to such people expressing appreciation in cash and/or in kind even as the Lord helps you. But, some of such people could become quite overbearing.
Some could directly or indirectly be asking for a “kickback” for the favour once shown. There are some who even go as far as exercising their spiritual authority over you demonically because of a little misunderstanding. They simply want to be seen as the one God used and atimes, they have subconsciously taken the place of God over your life. Friend, you will need the wisdom of a serpent and the gentility of a dove in order to deal with such overbearing destiny helpers.
What do you do to effectively manage overbearing helpers?
- Pray for them: Proverbs 21:1 (NKJV) says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, Like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes” . Tell God to touch their heart to see themselves only as a vessel and not as a warlord.
- Extend a hand of appreciation in cash and/or gift: Gift has a way of softening the ground. Proverbs 21:14a (NKJV) says, “A gift in secret pacifies anger.”
- Don’t ever use a derogatory word on such people: Remember where he brought you from, and be humble. Courtesy demands.
- Don’t ever throw tantrums or throw shades at them especially in the public: Anyone who was instrumental to your success must ever be honoured in words and deeds. Be matured. The relationship may be rusty now but it wasn’t always like that. Be resilient. Don’t fail the test or character.
- Break their evil authority over your destiny: This may be inevitable as we saw in the case Haman and the Jews. Had Esther and the Jews not embarked on 3 days dry fast, even the banquet of wine organized wouldn’t have had much effect.
- Look for a colleague of theirs to talk to them: Engage the services of such a person’s friend who has his ears to talk to him/her, and probably to further probe into his/her concerns.
- Conduct a territorial deliverance: As in the case of a helper who helped you find your footing in a city, or helped you secure a job in a company where you both work, you may need to specifically conduct a territorial deliverance and paralyze the strongman of the city or establishment.
8. Submit yourself under a prophetic covering: Sometimes it takes a father at the gate to checkmate the excesses of an overbearing destiny helper. Heavens respect spiritual ranks and authority..
Quote: You will always need tact and wisdom to continuously secure destiny relationships.
Prophetic Decree: Powers manipulating your helpers shall die, in Jesus name.
Prayer Focus
1. Altar supporting my overbearing helpers, catch fire, in Jesus name.
2. O God, please help my helpers to see themselves only as a vessel and not as my God, in Jesus name.
3. I receive the wisdom of a serpent and the gentility of a dove needed to secure my destiny, in Jesus name.
4. I receive grace to be self controlled in words and deeds before my destiny helpers, in Jesus name.
5. O God, raise a voice for me that will speak woe to the activities of overbearing helpers, in Jesus name.
