Bible Reading: 1 Timothy 3: 1-12

Memory Verse: So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach. 1 Timothy 3:2 (NLT)

The sanctity of the pulpit of God has unfortunately been infected with the virus of desperation. There is nothing bad to contend for a great ministry, but we must strive with caution. Mind you, a great ministry is not only defined by a large crowd. Please get this right. Pa Elton had a great ministry. He raised God’s kingdom Generals who have gone ahead to become great voices all over the world, but he never had a large crowd.

Why this desperation of having mega-Churches filled with multitude but not disciples? In a bid to build a big church, custodians of divine heritage have adopted very many schemes such as fake miracles and over-emphasis on seeds. When the same woman goes to different Churches with the same withered hand now stretched out, surely something is fishy somewhere. Is she being paid by someone? When the ONLY message preached in Church is principles of prosperity every Sunday, someone’s heart is gradually drifting away from the Cross of Calvary in a desperate attempt to build “a befitting edifice” for God. Wait a minute. Of what use is a Jesus kept in a structure but not in the heart of the congregants? Vanity of desperation!

When a particular MoG calls out the name and details of people borne out of the information received as they entered into the Church in the disguise of prophecy, overt-desperation to be named a prophet is gradually setting in. Be warned dear minister. Check your intentions. There is nothing bad attempting great things for Jesus, but your intentions and strategies must be pure and scripturally compliant. Examine yourself. Be faithful with the little talent and gift the Master has bequeath you and thereafter, should He find you faithful, He may decide to give you more. Apostle Paul said, “I magnify my ministry” (Romans 11:13 KJV). The office of the teacher is not inferior to the office of the prophet, and vice versa. Faithfulness to the one who has called you is what is needed.

Let’s come back to our person lives. You mustn’t buy that wrist watch if you don’t have the means now. As Christmas draws near, you mustn’t build a house in your village to make a point and thereafter abandon it empty for the city. You mustn’t throw that big birthday party. You mustn’t lavish on that child dedication. Infact, if you’re not careful, that lavish house warming ceremony, birthday parties, or child dedication, will open the door for great spiritual battles. There is nothing you MUST do. Live your size per time. Avoid peer pressure. Avoid societal pressure. Avoid desperation.

Quote: Covetousness is one of the gates to the city called Desperation.

Prophetic Decree: Let the shackles of desperation catch fire in your heart, in Jesus name.

Prayer Focus

1. I receive grace for contentment, in Jesus name.

2. Chains of societal pressure, break away from my heart, in Jesus name.

3. Chains of peer pressure, scatter by fire, in Jesus name.

4. I receive the wisdom of God to live my life to the fullest in modesty and contentment, in Jesus name.

5. My Father, please encounter the heart of falling ministers due to the covetousness of this age, in Jesus name.
