Bible Reading: 1 Kings 19:19-21
Memory Verse: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time 1 Peter 5:6
Elisha was a humble rich farmer who obeyed promptly the Divine call of God upon his life when Elijah beckoned on him. For several chapters ranging between 7 or 8 years after he began to follow Elijah, nothing is mentioned of him. He must have been observing, watching, and learning by spending time with his father in the Lord. Are you willing to be a protégé under a master? Don’t run like Ahimaaz but like Cushi in 2 Sam. 18:1-33. Be fully prepared before you take the centre stage in life. Prepare yourself adequately for the platform you desire.
Elisha had a vision. While the other sons of the prophet followed Elijah without any reward in view, Elisha was determined to get a double portion. He knew what he wanted from that relationship. Many are wondering in the wilderness of life without knowing what they want to get out of life. Why are you studying that course? To please your parents? Sister, what do you want from that guy? Must you allow him build a canopy around you when you are not interested in any serious relationship?
Elisha rejected discouragement. The sons of the Prophets rose up to distract him at the brink of the anointing transfer. They kept painting the picture of a bleak future by reminding him that his master will soon be taken away. Elisha boldly told them, “Hold thy peace” (2 Kings 2:5). He had the inner strength to shut the mouth of those lions and consequently, when power changed hands, they bowed before him. Attitude determines altitude. You must know where you belong in destiny and follow persistently till the end no matter what comes your way.
Quote: Persistence will always break resistance.
Prophetic Decree: Receive grace to be unshakeable till the end, in Jesus name.
