Bible Reading: Hebrews 11:1-3, James 2: 17-24

Memory VerseIn the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17 (NIV)

There are men and women that have walked practically with God in the journey of faith. One of such is the mother of God’s servant, E.V. Hill. What do you do when you’re left alone to cater for your children with no father and no food. You really have to do something drastic. By faith, she set the table, sat all her children on it and blessed the covered plates, earnestly expecting a miracle. Just as she “blessed the food” and opened the covered empty plates, a bell rang on the door. Miraculously, someone had just dropped food for the family. What a faith! “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” – Corrie ten Boom.

Desperate to see her child break off from the clutches of no education which has become a regular family pattern because of the abject poverty, E.V Hill’s mum took another drastic action in faith. She encouraged her son to get all his credentials and file out with the new matriculants with a strong emphasis on the words, “I will be praying for you”. He hinged his faith on those words and just when he was about to be checked-in, one of the topmost University officials showed up. “Are you E.V. Hill?”, he asked. “We have been looking for you. You have been given a 4-year scholarship through the University”. What a God we serve. No wonder Steven Furtick said “Faith is believing BEFORE what will only make sense AFTER.”

Many times, our problem are not really the problem. Our real problem is that we have refused to take God by His words and launch out in faith in line with what He has said concerning our lives. Your wedding, that start-up business, your professional certification, housing project, new job, etc, may not see the light of the day until you act in radical faith. Perfect condition hardly exist in the school of life. Act in faith as the Lord prompts you.

The second quarter of Year 2021 is on the move again, when will you share your own testimony? Arise O Zion, you have tarried so long on this mountain. Faith is an action word. Go and possess your Canaan in this thy might. “God never said that the journey would be easy, but He did say that the arrival would be worthwhile” – Max Lucado.
