Bible Reading:  Matthew 24: 36-44

Memory Verse:  For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 1 Thessalonians 5:2 (NIV)

Like it or not, Jesus is coming soon. I perceive someone is saying, “We have heard these same words for ages. How soon is He actually coming?”. The answer remains the obvious, “Sooner than you think.” A thousand years before the Lord is just like one day.  But when He comes, what shall He meet you doing? In your backslidden state? With another man’s wife? With another woman’s husband? In masturbation? In pornography? Cheating in the examination hall? Stealing? In truancy? With that unruly behaviour? What will Jesus find with you when He comes? Where will Jesus meet you when He comes? Arise from your slumber, O backslider. You were once a terror to the kingdom of darkness causing great havoc until you travelled out of the country. As soon as you began to earn foreign currency, you said no to your divine assignment as an intercessor. You have just began to taste wealth and you renounced your membership as a Watchman. Is that what Jesus will find you doing when He comes?

Where are those visions of village evangelism and campus outreaches you said Jesus gave you? If your Pastor does not plead with you, you will not minister in songs or as an instrumentalist. Are you still born again? Now you commercialise the anointing. Where is your first love, dear brethren? Teachers collecting bribes. Lecturers who must sleep with their students before they can pass a course. Where is your honour? Who art bewitched you? The same students some lecturers preached to they now sleep with because they’ve lost the fire of God. Double spirit. He professes to be a Christian by day but carries sacrifice at night because of a mere academic position in the University. Is this how you will encounter Jesus when He comes?

Think on this. What happens to the millions of students you once led to Christ on campus? The glory has departed. The fire has been converted to ashes. Your altar has gone cold. Awake, O Zion. Dust yourself off the remnant of ashes upon your altar. Hear the clarion call of your Master. He is coming back. He wants to rapture a Church without blemish. Flee from sin. Flee from all youthful exuberance. Flee from sin that easily besets. Like Elijah, prepare your altar for a fresh fire to fall, and let the fire consume you as a living sacrifice before the Lord.

5. I receive grace to be numbered amongst the Saints who did exploits for the Lord, in Jesus name.
